Praise For Thrizzle

December 6, 2009

Praise for Thrizzle Volume 1 has been coming from a most unexpected quarter… the press! This weekend sees the New York Times Book Review calling it “demented, gaspingly funny…”

And The Onion has just selected it as one of the 25 best “graphic novels” of the last decade.

‘Tis a good blurb harvest this year. The blurbiest!

  1. Dear Mr. Kupperman,

I am curating an exhibition titled “FUNNY (not funny)” for the University of Michigan School of Art & Design Work-Detroit Gallery, which will run from January 22nd-February 26th, 2010. The theme is that of dark/black/gallows humor (or of that ilk) as a revolutionary kick in the ass response to circumstances. Thus far, I have Brunetti, Newgarden, Mats!? and Neely on the show roster and would love to include a work or two on paper from yourself. If you are interested, please contact me for further details.

I thank you for your time and wonderful work.

  2. Well Deserved! 🙂

  3. From the NYT review: “his writing, on the other hand, jumps the rails at every opportunity.” — this is why i enjoy your output and our interactions, you connect seperate ideas very *laterally* – i.e., two very disparate things but nonetheless simply connected. Its very nice, complexity & simple (clear), together.

  4. You deserve it mate!
